Functional Unit

Infrastructure

Government has established State-of-the-art infrastructure at BISAG-N for DTH TV based distance education. It consists of 10 Broadcasting Studios, Content Development Facility and Telecast facility. Telecast facility includes two uplink teleports( 11m and 9.3m) in Ku band and uplink setup. At present, this infrastructure is being used to telecast 51 educational DTH TV channels which includes 16 channels under ‘VANDE Gujarat’ banner Government of Gujarat, 34 channels under ‘SWAYAM Prabha’ by Ministry of Human Resource Development and‘DigiShala’ by MeitY on 24x7 basis.

Broadcasting Studios

The state-of-the-art broadcasting studios at BISAG-N are equipped with modern technological equipment. These studios are being usedextensively for live telecast as well as recording purpose by various Government Agencies/Departments.

Content Development Facility

It includes two laboratories equipped with 25 editing systems. It is being used extensively by various Government departments/agencies for the content development.

Augmentation in terms of studio, channels, technology is being done on regular basis to meet the increased demand of the user community. Government Departments, agencies, organizations are being approached proactively to enhance the utilization of SATCOM network.
These channels telecast by BISAG-N are available on TV through DD Free Dish and on Mobile through JIO TV application.

Gujarat SATCOM Network

Gujarat SATCOM Network provides a facility for interactive distance education, training, Skill Development, Health, Agriculture, awareness and extension.

Government of Gujarat through the Department of Science and Technology has been telecasting 16 educational DTH TV channels under ‘VANDE Gujarat’ banner using the state-of-the-art broadcast infrastructure available at BISAG-N.

SWAYAM Prabha Programme

Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has been telecasting 22 educational DTH TV channels under ‘SWAYAM Prabha’ programme. Content is being provided by the stake holders of these channels Viz. CEC, NPTEL(IITs), IGNOU & IIT PAL. These Channel have been Telecast using state of the art telecast facility established by the Government at BISAG-N.

PM eVIDYA Programme

PM eVIDYA is a unique and innovative venture by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. under this Programme CIET, NCERT runs 12 Education DTH TV Channels . Content is being provided by CIET. These Channels have been categorized by Class 1 to Class 12. These Channel have been Telecast using state of the art telecast facility established by the Government at BISAG-N.

DigiShala

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India has been telecasting ‘DigiShala’, a dedicated TV channel for Digital Payment. Using this channel MeitY has planned to leverage satellite based distance education to provide significant impetus to its ‘Digital Literacy’ programmes. ‘DigiShala’ would further provide greater control to execute such strategic initiatives.
